Food retailer Ahold Delhaize has taken parts of its IT offline after a cyberattack. The company said it was dealing with a security issue within its network and had disconnected systems to protect them. The group operates more than 9,400 stores in Europe, the United States and Indonesia, according to BleepingComputer. Its chains include Albert Heijn in the Netherlands and Delhaize in Belgium.
Local media reported, as cited by SecurityWeek, that deliveries and online orders at Albert Heijn and Delhaize were disrupted. In the United States, employees of the Stop & Shop chain reported, according to BleepingComputer, problems accessing their schedules. The company said its stores remained open and that the impact differed by brand.
On Tuesday, Ahold Delhaize said it had begun a controlled relaunch of certain systems but gave no timeline. Authorities have been notified, and there is no evidence so far that customer or employee data was stolen, the company said. It is unclear whether the incident is linked to the recent hack of refrigeration systems at hundreds of European supermarkets.
