The German Parliamentary Society (DPG) was entitled to expel Alternative for Germany (AfD) Bundestag member Gerrit Huy, Berlin Regional Court II has ruled, the court announced on Monday. The Oct. 9 judgment (case no. 88 O 155/25) is not final; Huy told the legal news site LTO she would appeal to the Kammergericht, Berlin's higher regional court.
The association's board, then chaired by CDU politician Armin Laschet according to LTO, expelled Huy in April 2024. It cited her attendance at the "Potsdam meeting" on Nov. 25, 2023, also attended by Martin Sellner of the Identitarian Movement, and her failure to distance herself from it. The members' assembly upheld the decision. Sellner's positions on "remigration" are "diametrically opposed" to the association's aims, the court said.
In the court's view, disciplinary measures by associations are subject only to limited judicial review, particularly as the DPG holds no dominant position. Founded in 1951 and based opposite the Reichstag building, the society has about 2,000 members, including, according to LTO, 519 of the 630 Bundestag members and 129 members of the AfD parliamentary group.
