Almost three weeks before Christian Mbilli and Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez fight for the WBC title, the Mexican embassy in Riyadh has urged its citizens to be cautious. According to The Rio Times, it advised on Sunday to avoid the areas around the international airports of Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. Anyone flying this week should check their flight status with the airline and airport, watch for phone alerts and not share photos or videos of attack sites.

According to World Boxing News, the Mexican government has not called for the event to be cancelled. Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh said Alvarez would fight in Riyadh "no matter what happens". Fight Sports notes that Canelo's camp has not commented publicly, leaving Alalshikh's account as the only confirmation.

No move or postponement of the 'Mexico vs. The World' card on 31 October has been announced; DAZN is broadcasting. Alvarez, 36, who lost to Terence Crawford in September 2025, is seeking to become a three-time super middleweight world champion against Mbilli, The Ring reports.
