Around five weeks before GTA 6 launches on 19 November, the anonymous group ‘Cyberleek’ is threatening to publish a complete build of the game. According to VGC and Dexerto, it claims to have a version that can be played through to the credits, including the story mode. This has not been independently confirmed. The group has been posting unauthorised gameplay footage for almost two months, most recently around 25 minutes of material.
By its own account, the group is protesting against Rockstar selling GTA 6 pre-orders only digitally without offering a physical version. According to VGC, its conditions are a disc version and a public apology from Take-Two. At the same time, the group is promoting its own cryptocurrency and also ties the threat to its market performance – raising doubts about its motives.
No statement from Rockstar or Take-Two on this threat was initially available. Take-Two has said its investigation into the leaker is evolving rapidly and has filed several subpoenas with the platform Discord.
