Japanese automation group Omron said on Tuesday it will acquire US industrial PC maker OnLogic and its parent company, Interlogic, for $675 million in cash. Interlogic will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Omron.

OnLogic will continue to operate independently, keeping its brand, direct-to-customer model and management team led by Chief Executive Sean Larkin. More than 90% of its revenue comes from the Americas and Europe. Omron aims to combine its control, sensing and robotics technology with OnLogic's rugged computers to develop so-called physical AI platforms and expand its US customer base.

Omron shares were roughly flat in Tokyo morning trading, while the Nikkei 225 index fell about 2.2%, Reuters reported.
