The new Xbox shooter Gears of War: E-Day was hit by DDoS attacks over the weekend. Developer The Coalition announced this overnight into 12 October via the official Gears community account on X. Such attacks overload servers with huge volumes of requests. Some players experienced intermittent disconnects, login issues or other service disruptions.

According to VGC, players reported mainly on Sunday, 11 October, that they could not join multiplayer matches or were disconnected mid-game. The Coalition said its teams are continuing to monitor and mitigate the activity and will provide updates if there are significant changes.

Gears of War: E-Day has been available for Xbox Series X|S and PC since 6 October and holds a score of 87 on OpenCritic. The shooter tells the prequel story of the series, centred on the outbreak of the war against the Locust.
