After Microsoft and Alphabet, Amazon is the next US tech giant to report quarterly results on Thursday. Third-quarter figures are expected after the US market close, with the conference call starting at 5 p.m. Eastern Time (10 p.m. CET). On average, 30 analysts expect revenue of $202.16 billion, just above the company's own guidance of $197 billion to $202 billion. Earnings per share are expected at $1.96, and Amazon had guided for operating income of $22.5 billion to $26.5 billion.
The focus is on the AWS cloud unit, which grew 37% to $42.2 billion in the second quarter. Investors are also watching spending: Amazon raised its 2026 capital spending plan from $200 billion to $220 billion, mainly for data centres and artificial intelligence. At Alphabet, heavy spending and a profit decline triggered a share slide on Wednesday evening.
Before the opening bell in New York on Thursday, construction-equipment maker Caterpillar, drugmaker Eli Lilly and payments company Mastercard also report. After the close, chipmaker Intel, coffee chain Starbucks, crypto exchange Coinbase and platform Reddit report alongside Amazon. According to SentiSense, Apple is expected to report only in early November.
