Sundance Institute has unveiled the first films in its Legacy program, formerly called From the Collection – the first titles confirmed for the festival's debut edition in Boulder, Colorado. The Sundance Film Festival runs Jan. 21–31, 2027, with Legacy screenings Jan. 27–31. The film platform Letterboxd is co-presenting the program.

Marking their 25th anniversaries, Sundance will show Justin Lin's "Better Luck Tomorrow" in its 2002 festival cut, Patricia Cardoso's "Real Women Have Curves," which won the Audience Award back then, and Alfonso Cuarón's "Y tu mamá también" in 4K. Also on the list are Tom Kalin's "Swoon" and Julie Taymor's "Fool's Fire" (both 35 years old), Stacy Peralta's documentary "Dogtown and Z-Boys" and Barbara Hammer's "Nitrate Kisses." Christopher Nolan's "Memento," which won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at Sundance in 2001, will screen as "Cinema Interruptus": audience members can call out "Stop!" to discuss the film, with critic Josh Larsen moderating.

2027 also marks the 30th anniversary of the Sundance Institute Collection at the UCLA Film & Television Archive, which the institute says holds material from more than 1,000 titles. More Legacy titles will be announced in the coming weeks. Single tickets go on sale Jan. 8, 2027, and the full festival lineup is expected in December.
