Bulgarian exchange power 20% dearer on Wednesday at €305.56/MWh
The IBEX average price for 28 October is €305.56 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT, 20.03% above Tuesday. Night and evening hours rise the most, by almost 25%.
On the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX), producers, traders and large consumers buy and sell wholesale electricity. On the day-ahead market, the price for every hour of the next day is set in an auction the day before. For Wednesday 28 October, the average price across the whole day (base) is €305.56 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT, 20.03% more than on Tuesday (€254.58).
During peak hours (8:00 to 20:00), a megawatt-hour costs €308.69 on average, 15.71% more than Tuesday's €266.79. The off-peak price rises even more, to €302.44, 24.79% above the €242.36 of the previous day. The gap between daytime and night power therefore shrinks to just €6.25 per megawatt-hour, from €24.43 on Tuesday (own calculation).
Traded volume is 98,870.28 MWh, about 3.1% more than on Tuesday (95,941.08). Of this, 51,937.03 MWh falls in peak hours (about 4.3% less) and 46,933.25 MWh in the remaining hours (about 12.6% more; own calculation).
