OKTAGON announced on Tuesday that Felix Klinkhammer will miss Saturday's main event due to an injury; the organisation did not specify the injury. The new opponent for Georgia's Amiran Gogoladze (18-3) in the fight for the vacant welterweight title is Jessin Ayari from Nuremberg. OKTAGON 96 takes place on 31 October at the SAP Garden in Munich and streams on RTL+ in Germany.
Ayari, a former UFC fighter, was originally booked against Ion Surdu and, after Surdu withdrew injured, against Kevin Pastran. Now he gets the title shot. OKTAGON lists his record as 19-6, and he has won both of his fights in the organisation, against Andreas Stahl and Niklas Stolze. Gogoladze is unbeaten in OKTAGON and knocked out former champion Surdu in the first round in April.
The night's second marquee bout also has to be rebuilt: according to Cageside Press, Niko Samsonidse is out of his fight with Gökhan Aksu, and OKTAGON is looking for a replacement. The card also features Ronald Paradeiser vs Tyron Pfeifer and Lazar Todev vs Simon Biyong.
