AC Milan slumped to a 4-2 home defeat by Bologna in Serie A on Wednesday, throwing away a 2-1 halftime lead at San Siro. Samuel Mbangula was the star of the night with a hat-trick for the visitors in the ninth round of the season.

Mbangula put Bologna ahead in the eighth minute before Alphadjo Cisse turned the match around for Ruben Amorim's side with goals in the 14th and 27th minutes. The game swung after the break: Davide Bartesaghi diverted a Juan Miranda free kick into his own net in the 60th minute, Mbangula made it 3-2 two minutes later and completed his hat-trick in the 86th.

The defeat ends a run of positive results for Milan, and Fikayo Tomori went off at halftime with a muscle problem, a worry for Amorim ahead of Saturday's derby against Inter. For Raffaele Palladino's Bologna, it was a statement win at San Siro.
