How much Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will earn in Cardiff on December 11 has not been made public. British Boxing News has gathered the reports so far: according to the BBC, the combined purse is close to US$200 million (about £151m), or roughly $100m per fighter. Earlier reports had even spoken of £100m each.
According to The Times, Fury pushed for a bigger share and agreeing a 50-50 split took time. For both it would be the biggest payday of their careers – their previous highs are estimated at around £65m each.
Joshua reportedly gave up more than £10m to keep the fight in Britain. His promoter Eddie Hearn said: "To keep it in the UK he's got to turn down eight figures plus." The Netflix fee, sponsorship income and undercard purses have not been reported.
