Bayer Leverkusen host 1. FC Nuremberg in the second round of the German Cup at the BayArena on Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. local time. The club expects a crowd of around 29,200, including some 3,000 visiting fans. Nuremberg, coached by Miroslav Klose, play in the 2. Bundesliga.
Klose said the roles were clear, calling Leverkusen the favourites, a top team used to playing twice a week. For his side, he said, it is a highlight game, and the goal is to make Leverkusen wobble. Fynn Otto has rejoined the squad and will travel, though his involvement remains open.
Leverkusen coach Carles Martinez is without Moussa Diaby, who injured his thigh against Hoffenheim. Loic Bade is back with the squad but will not play, and Janis Blaswich starts in goal, the club said. Martinez praised Klose for a brilliant playing career and good work as a coach.
