Bulgarian exchange power 4.77% dearer on Thursday at €320.13/MWh
The IBEX average price for 29 October is €320.13 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT. Daytime hours rise by more than 14%, while night and evening hours fall by about 5%.
The Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX) is the marketplace where producers, traders and large consumers buy and sell wholesale electricity. On the day-ahead market, the price for every hour of the next day is set in an auction the day before. For Thursday 29 October, the average price across the whole day (base) is €320.13 per megawatt-hour excluding VAT. That is 4.77% more than on Wednesday, when it was €305.56.
The different times of day move in opposite directions. In peak hours (8:00 to 20:00), a megawatt-hour costs €353.31 on average, 14.45% more than Wednesday's €308.69. In the remaining hours (off-peak), the price falls 5.12% to €286.95. The gap between daytime and night power widens again to €66.36 per megawatt-hour, after just €6.25 the day before (own calculation).
Traded volume is 98,490.70 MWh, almost the same as on Wednesday (98,870.28; about 0.4% less). Peak hours account for 50,875.27 MWh and the remaining hours for 47,615.43 MWh.
