Bayern Munich beat second-division 1. FC Magdeburg 6-1 in the second round of the DFB Cup. Michael Olise scored twice (10th minute, 50th/penalty), with further goals from Ismael Saibari (21st), Alphonso Davies (70th), Nathaniel Brown (73rd) and David Santos Daiber (90+3). Mateusz Zukowski had briefly equalised for Magdeburg at 1-1 (15th).
According to the club's match report, Germany goalkeeper Jonas Urbig again deputised for the resting Manuel Neuer, while internationals Jonathan Tah and Serge Gnabry also started; Gnabry was replaced at half-time. Eighteen-year-old Lennart Karl played the full match and set up, among others, Davies for the 4-1. Aleksandar Pavlović returned to the squad and came on in the 68th minute. Captain Joshua Kimmich was, as expected, not in the squad, and Jamal Musiala was still absent.
Before kick-off, sporting director Max Eberl confirmed on ARD that head coach Vincent Kompany has left hospital and is back home. The DFB Cup round of 16 takes place on 1 and 2 December.
