Australian punk band The Chats on Wednesday announced their third studio album. 'Half Cut' is out on 5 March 2027 via Virgin and features 14 songs, opening with the new single 'Off It'. It is their first record since 2022's 'Get Fucked'. According to Hot Press, the band recorded the album over a week in Santa Ana, California – between a US tour supporting The Hives and their Coachella performance – with their friend Jay Whalley producing.
Frontman Eamon Sandwith is surprised by how far the band has come: "I never even imagined we'd make a single full-length album, let alone three," he told Hot Press. The band made its first EP in high school, decided it was fun and simply kept going.
On stage, The Chats come to Germany for five shows in autumn 2027: they open on 16 September at Hamburg's Fabrik, followed by Berlin (Astra), Leipzig (Felsenkeller), Munich (Backstage) and Cologne (Live Music Hall) on 4 October. From 9 October the band then tours Ireland and the UK, including three nights at London's Electric Ballroom. According to VISIONS, the ticket presale starts on 2 November. No dates in Austria, Switzerland or Bulgaria have been announced so far.
