A Kuwaiti court on Monday sentenced three men to death over an alleged plot to assassinate Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, CBS News reported. Prosecutors accused them of spying for Iran and joining the Lebanese Shiite militia Hezbollah. Other defendants reportedly received prison terms, though accounts differ.
According to the report, the allegations alone do not establish that Iran directed the plot. The case comes amid the Iran war and rising tensions between Tehran and Gulf states. Also on Oct. 27, two men were charged in Britain under national security law over an alleged Iran-linked plot targeting the RAF Fairford air base.
