Bulgaria's National Assembly holds an extraordinary sitting from 9 a.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 28, with two items on the agenda. The first is the arson attack on Starlink satellite antennas near the village of Plana: the authorities' response, the search for the suspects, their departure from the country and the protection of communications infrastructure. Prime Minister Rumen Radev, Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev and State Agency for National Security (DANS) chairman Plamen Tonchev are invited. This item was requested by Ivaylo Mirchev and other lawmakers.

The second item, requested by Asen Vassilev and other lawmakers, concerns the pardons of Ognyan Atanasov, known as the "Escobar of Petrich," and Dinko Gospodinov ("Dinko the Crazy"). Lawmakers want answers on medical reports, conduct assessments and contacts with the presidency. Officials from the prison service, the Sofia and Burgas prisons, the GDBOP organized crime unit and the pardons commission are also summoned. Two earlier extraordinary sittings on Atanasov's pardon failed for lack of a quorum.

Radev said in Veliko Tarnovo he had always appeared before parliament when summoned. According to BTA, the two German nationals accused of the arson were arrested in Duisburg on Oct. 23 on European arrest warrants; their handover depends on German proceedings.
