South Korean memory chipmaker SK hynix will announce shareholder return measures on Wednesday alongside its third-quarter results. The company said it was reviewing various options but gave no details, according to Reuters.

The Dong-A Ilbo newspaper reported on Monday that SK hynix is considering a special dividend of about 16 trillion won, or roughly $12 billion. It would be funded by gains from the sale of its stake in Japanese memory maker Kioxia, completed earlier this year. SK hynix invested about 4 trillion won in Kioxia in 2018 through a Bain Capital-led consortium. The report has not been confirmed.

In August, SK hynix said it would buy back and cancel 40 trillion won of its own shares and return more than half of its free cash flow for 2025 to 2027 to shareholders. Investors have pressed SK hynix and Samsung to hand back more of their record profits from AI memory chips. The shares edged higher on Monday while the broader market fell; Samsung reports quarterly results on Thursday.
