Oleksandr Usyk could face Tyson Fury for a third time in 2027. According to The Ring's Mike Coppinger, a trilogy with Fury – if he beats Anthony Joshua in Cardiff on 11 December – and a fight with cruiserweight world champion David Benavidez are seen as viable options for the unbeaten Ukrainian. Talks with Deontay Wilder came to nothing, Boxing News reports.
Usyk vacated his world titles after beating Rico Verhoeven in May and said he would fight only once more. Benavidez meets WBC champion Michał Cieślak on 5 December – he too would have to win for that option to stay alive.
Frank Warren, Fury's promoter, opened the door to Usyk: “He'll want to be at the top so he'll want to fight the best ones so let's see who it is,” he told Sky Sports. According to Sky Sports, Fury has described the Joshua fight as a warm-up for Usyk.
