Manchester City beat Ipswich Town 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday for a seventh consecutive Premier League win. Phil Foden opened the scoring in the 19th minute, his first goal since December 2025. Daizen Maeda equalized two minutes later before Erling Haaland scored twice. Zian Flemming pulled one back for Ipswich with a late penalty.
According to Sky Sports and the club, Enzo Maresca is the first manager to win his first seven Premier League games in charge of a new club. City also matched their best-ever start to a league season, set in 1897-98. Maresca was pleased with the record-breaking start, according to the club. Haaland has 12 goals this season.
City lead the table with 21 points, while Arsenal have 15 with a game in hand and play at Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Off the field, City have appealed an independent commission's Sept. 29 ruling that found the club guilty of breaching financial rules; no sanction has yet been set.
