Germany's Green Youth re-elected its co-leaders Henriette Held and Luis Bobga for another year at its national congress in Leipzig. Held received 86.29 percent (2025: 93.6) and Bobga 73.20 percent (2025: 76.2), according to dpa. Greens co-leader Felix Banaszak is expected at the congress today, Sunday.
Held sharply attacked Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU): "We don't need a chancellor who explains to us how democracy works." Speaking about social spending cuts, Bobga said: "All these cuts lead to one and the same result: they kill people."
Delegates also criticised the Greens' national leadership over its handling of coalition talks in Berlin with the Left Party and the SPD. "The federal party should stay out of the talks in Berlin," Bobga told t-online. The youth wing rejects a coalition with the CDU.
