An 82-year-old driver has died in hospital after a traffic accident in Berlin's Spandau district, police said. On Friday afternoon, the man collided at the junction of Prisdorfer Strasse and Brunsbuettler Damm with a car driven by a 28-year-old who had the right of way.

The impact pushed the senior's car into a parked vehicle. The 82-year-old and his 84-year-old wife, who was travelling with him, were taken to hospitals with serious injuries. The man died of his injuries the following night.

The 28-year-old driver of the other car was unhurt, according to police.
