Daniel Dubois retained his WBO heavyweight title in emphatic fashion. At London's O2 Arena, a right cross left Fabio Wardley briefly on one knee in the opening seconds, Sky Sports reports; in round two Wardley's trainer Ben Davison threw in the towel. The official stoppage time, per The Ring: 2:21. “I had bad intentions from the beginning,” Dubois said.
Dubois then raised the prospect of a trilogy with Oleksandr Usyk, who has beaten him twice: “Definitely, definitely, I'd love that. We're coming out on top this time.” And: “I've heard talk about Kabayel but I'll fight whoever's next in line. Whoever pays the most cash.”
Wardley took the defeat calmly: “Daniel is testament to coming again and I'll come again.” On the undercard, Bakhodir Jalolov beat Solomon Dacres by unanimous decision (99-91, 99-90, 99-90).
