Munich knitwear specialist Maerz Muenchen opens its first flagship store on 14 October – in its home city, in the Fünf Höfe shopping quarter. According to FashionUnited, the brand shows women's and men's collections across around 150 square metres. The store was designed by Munich studio OHA – Office Heinzelmann Ayadi using fir wood, Jura natural stone and merino wool. Maerz Muenchen belongs to the Olymp-Bezner group.

“Der neue Store ist für uns weit mehr als eine zusätzliche Verkaufsfläche” (“For us, the new store is far more than additional retail space”), managing director Louis Bezner said, according to FashionUnited; it is also meant to be a showcase and testing ground for new concepts. “Unser Anspruch ist es nicht, die Marke neu zu erfinden” (“Our aim is not to reinvent the brand”), Bezner added – rather, existing strengths are to be developed further.

At the same time, the company is expanding its presence with retail partners. According to FashionUnited, new shop-in-shop spaces have opened at Braun in Moers and at fashion house Baltz in Bochum, while pop-up presentations are planned with Garhammer, Breuninger, Zinser, Dodenhof and Leffers. “Der hochwertige Fachhandel ist für Maerz Muenchen ein zentraler Ort” (“High-end specialist retail is a central place for Maerz Muenchen”), Bezner said.
