Swedish telecommunications group Telia plans to cut 900 positions. As industry outlet Telecoms.com reported, the reductions affect all units and cover both employees and resource consultants. At the same time, about 220 positions, mainly from the central technology unit, are to move to the country units. Group functions will focus on strategy, target-setting and governance, while the technology unit will keep areas with clear scale benefits, including security and TV services.
Telia is aiming for annual gross savings of SEK 1 billion, with the full effect expected from 2028. The company said its 2026 outlook is unchanged. CEO Patrik Hofbauer said: “We recognize it will involve difficult decisions and will require support for all our people.” Finland, with 280 roles, and Sweden, with 260, are the hardest hit, Mobile World Live reported. The restructuring is due to be completed by Dec. 31, subject to negotiations with trade unions.
