Prime Minister Rumen Radev on Monday (Oct. 12) received a delegation of American companies from the security, high-tech, defense and energy sectors; the meeting was organized by the US Embassy. Bulgaria is ready to encourage investment with high added value, Radev said, according to BNT. The country has real capacity to take part in the industries of the future and wants to become part of high-tech supply chains, he said. He pointed to growing companies in electronics, space and defense as well as the INSAIT research institute. Innovation Minister Ivan Vasilev also took part.

President Iliana Iotova also met representatives of US companies the same day. "We are working to make Bulgaria an island of stability and development in the complicated times we live in," she said. Iotova stressed Bulgaria's role in the so-called Middle Corridor linking Central Asia and Europe via the Black Sea and the South Caucasus, and called for a consensus on a moratorium on attacks against merchant ships in the Black Sea.
