Californian AI company Physical Intelligence is reportedly negotiating a new funding round of at least $1 billion. The start-up could be valued at around $20 billion, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the talks. Existing backers Avenir and Lux Capital are to lead the round. This has not been confirmed; the company and the investors did not comment.

Physical Intelligence raised money at a valuation of $11.5 billion earlier in 2026; the new valuation would be almost twice as high. According to Bloomberg, the company – founded in 2024 by former Google DeepMind researchers and academics from Stanford and Berkeley – has no revenue yet. Its backers also include CapitalG, Jeff Bezos and Thrive Capital.

Physical Intelligence develops AI software that lets robots carry out tasks in the real world, regardless of who built the machines. Since October 13, outside developers have been able to use the models in a beta via an interface, fine-tune them with their own data and deploy them on their own robots. Rival Skild AI was valued at $14 billion in January.
