Former deputy director of military intelligence Gen. Stoimen Stoimenov, once an adviser to President Rosen Plevneliev, commented on the drone attacks on merchant ships in the Black Sea on Bulgarian National Radio's program "RadioTochka." If the drones that attacked merchant ships in the Black Sea are Russian, there is no way to hide it, he said. According to him, experts from NATO and EU countries are involved in the investigation.
"It is more logical to expect that this is Russian work," Stoimenov said. He argued that Ukraine benefits economically from the shipping, making attacks on its part illogical, but did not rule out a provocation either, since in his view a hybrid war is being waged. This is the general's personal assessment – officially, the perpetrator of the attacks has not yet been identified.
