Sixteen turquoise lakes linked by cascades and waterfalls, surrounded by forests in autumn colors: Croatia's Plitvice Lakes are considered one of the most beautiful places in Europe. Since Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, the park has been holding an "Autumn Promotional Week" that runs until Nov. 1. According to the Plitvice Lakes National Park administration, adult tickets cost €10, students €6 and children aged 7 to 18 €4. Children under 7 and people with a disability above 50% enter free. Tickets are sold only online through the park's official ticketing system.

The discount is substantial: according to the Putoholičari portal of net.hr, the regular October adult price is €23, and €40 at the height of summer. Two adults pay €20 in total, and a family with two children aged 7 to 18 pays €28. The €10 price also remains in place in November and December, when the winter price list applies. Four restaurants in the park are offering promotional menus with dishes from the Lika region, seven bistros and cafés are giving 15% off the total bill, and Hotel Jezero is offering one- to three-night packages at 15% off. Folklore performances take place at Entrance 1 at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 24 and 31.

The occasion is an anniversary: on Oct. 26, 1979, the World Heritage Committee inscribed the Plitvice Lakes on the UNESCO list for the formation of tufa (travertine), which builds the natural barriers between the lakes. The area was declared Croatia's first national park on April 8, 1949, and the protected World Heritage property covers 29,581.71 hectares, according to UNESCO. Visitors should note that opening hours become shorter with the switch to winter time on Oct. 25: according to the Turističke priče portal, entry is then allowed only until 2 p.m., and some routes may be restricted because of the weather.
