Bulgarian Justice Minister Nikolay Naydenov wants stronger legal safeguards against property fraud. The ministry is working on the relevant amendments together with the Chamber of Notaries and other stakeholders, he said on Saturday, according to the BTA news agency. The focus is on protecting particularly vulnerable groups of the population.

Six laws need to be revised: the Inheritance Act, the Civil Procedure Code, the Family Code, the Obligations and Contracts Act, the Property Act and the Civil Registration Act. Naydenov was speaking at a conference of the Chamber of Notaries marking its professional holiday, which was also attended by international guests.

At the start of the event, the Institute for Professional Training and Qualification of Notaries was founded. According to the minister, it could serve as an advisory platform for legislative initiatives and support the ministry in impact assessments of electronic notarization and the digitalization of procedures. Many young people are now choosing the notary profession, Naydenov said.
