Mirra Andreeva has reached the final of the WTA 1000 event in Beijing. The 19-year-old Russian, world No. 5 and fourth seed, beat Czech Nikola Bartunkova 6-2, 6-2 in 74 minutes in Saturday's semi-final.
"I wanted to play aggressive today," Andreeva said. "I really tried to be brave no matter what." Bartunkova had knocked out Aryna Sabalenka earlier in the tournament.
In Sunday's final Andreeva will face the winner of the second semi-final between home favourite Zheng Qinwen and Elise Mertens, who beat Iga Swiatek 7-6 (7-0), 6-3 in the quarter-finals. A win would give Andreeva her third WTA 1000 title.
