Vacheron Constantin has unveiled its watch for the coming Chinese Year of the Goat. According to Monochrome Watches, it belongs to the Métiers d'Art "The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac" series. The dial shows a hand-sculpted goat and rock in gold with relief engraving against a landscape of multi-coloured grand feu enamel, with the foliage done in miniature painting. According to the report, the dial is fired in a kiln in a process lasting about two weeks that is repeated several times.
The case measures 40 millimetres across and 12.72 millimetres thick and comes in platinum or pink gold, each limited to 25 pieces. Hours and minutes appear in apertures at 11 and 2 o'clock, with the day and date in the lower apertures. The watch is powered by the in-house automatic calibre 2460 G4, bearing the Hallmark of Geneva, with a power reserve of about 40 hours. The price is available on request.
IWC also has a Year of the Goat model. According to The Quintessential Gentleman, the Pilot's Watch Performance Chronograph 41 "Year of the Goat" has a gold-toned dial with black sub-dials, a brushed titanium case and a black ceramic bezel. Inside is the in-house calibre 69385. The watch is limited to 500 pieces and costs 13,100 dollars.
