Swiss made, mid-century design: Fossil launches its CS-1 watch collection
Texas watch brand Fossil is launching the CS-1 collection with Swiss automatic and quartz movements. The design takes its cue from California's Case Study Houses.

Watch brand Fossil is opening a new chapter with its CS-1 collection. The models pair Swiss automatic and quartz movements with the proportions and balance of mid-century modern design. The collection is presented in a video from the "Dialed In" series on the YouTube channel of watch magazine Hodinkee. The piece is labelled "In Partnership" with the brand.
Hodinkee names California's Case Study Houses, a programme of modern model homes, as the inspiration. According to the video description, the entry point to the new collection is the 38mm CS-1 Three Hand Date Automatic, a three-hand watch with a date. The description does not give further technical details, prices or a launch date.
Fossil was founded in Texas in 1984. According to the accompanying Hodinkee article, the brand has done a lot for American watch culture at a time when watchmaking in the US had nearly disappeared.
