VfB Stuttgart play at SC Paderborn in the second round of the DFB Cup on Wednesday (18:00, Sky). According to the Stuttgarter Zeitung, Germany international Deniz Undav, who was left out of the starting line-up last time, returns in attacking midfield. Fellow Germany players Angelo Stiller, Maximilian Mittelstädt and Chris Führich are also expected to start. Fabian Bredlow will be in goal – that "was planned that way", coach Sebastian Hoeneß said.

After the 3-2 home defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach, Hoeneß wants a response: "It has become clear to everyone that we have to step it up," he said. "It's about showing a reaction as a team and setting a starting point." According to the club, Nikolas Nartey and Josha Vagnoman are out.

In the evening (20:45, ARD and Sky), Bayern Munich host 1. FC Magdeburg. It is "still a little too early" for Manuel Neuer and Jamal Musiala, assistant coach Aaron Danks said, while Germany international Aleksandar Pavlović is "certainly a bit closer". Captain Joshua Kimmich, who missed recent games after a bereavement in his family, is expected back this week, according to Danks.
