Vasiliy Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs) has an opponent in mind for his super featherweight comeback: "My next step, it will be a fight with a guy, maybe with a guy from the Philippines, Suarez," the 38-year-old Ukrainian told Fight Hub TV, according to Boxing News 24. Charly Suarez (19-0, 11 KOs) is the WBO's mandatory challenger.

According to BoxingScene, the fight could take place in February. That would allow three-belt champion O'Shaquie Foster to wait for the winner of the WBA title fight between Anthony Cacace and Nick Ball on December 19 – with the winner of Lomachenko vs Suarez next in line. BoxingScene reports this citing a person familiar with the plans.

Nothing is official. According to Boxing News 24, Lomachenko's team will meet promoter Bob Arum to discuss the business side. Lomachenko last fought in May 2024, stopping George Kambosos Jr., and then announced his retirement.
