At least eight Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, according to Al Jazeera. An air strike on the Islamic University campus in Gaza City killed three security guards; it was the second attack on the institution within a few hours. An earlier drone strike wounded seven female students with shrapnel, one of them seriously. Further deaths were reported by Nasser Medical Complex after shelling in al-Mawasi near Khan Younis, and from Deir el-Balah, northern Gaza and eastern Khan Younis.

Al Jazeera correspondent Hani Mahmoud said most university buildings had already been destroyed before the attacks. According to UNESCO, nearly 95% of Gaza's higher education campuses have been destroyed or damaged since October 2023. Gaza's Health Ministry says at least 1,551 people have been killed since the ceasefire began in October 2025, and 74,544 in total since October 2023. The figures cannot be independently verified.

Tensions remain high. According to The Times of Israel, the army has moved the so-called Yellow Line, which marks the areas it controls, westward; Hamas continues to refuse to disarm. Israel controls or restricts almost two-thirds of the Gaza Strip, according to Al Jazeera. Crossing closures and reduced aid funding are also deepening the food crisis.
