Borussia Dortmund host Werder Bremen in the German Cup second round on Tuesday (8:45 p.m.) — the side that held them to a 2-2 draw on the fifth matchday with two late goals, Dortmund's first dropped points of the season. "We played well there, but we blew it in the last five minutes," managing director for sport Lars Ricken said. Over the weekend, Dortmund beat Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 with a late goal from substitute Beier.

The spotlight is on former Dortmund striker Niclas Füllkrug. The Werder forward scored twice from the penalty spot in the 3-2 win at Mainz, taking him to eight goals this season. He has scored in six straight Bundesliga games; Rudi Völler's Werder record from the 1982-83 season is seven in a row.

For Dortmund, who have the league's best defense with four goals conceded, the match opens a demanding stretch. On Saturday they visit leaders Bayern Munich, who are level on points. "Bayern are the benchmark, not only in the Bundesliga but also in Europe," coach Niko Kovac said. Ricken said: "We haven't concerned ourselves with Bayern at all."
