The AfD remains clearly the strongest party in a new Allensbach poll for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. If a federal election were held next Sunday, it would win 27 percent, one point less than in September. The CDU/CSU bloc is unchanged at 23 percent. The SPD and the Greens are tied at 14 percent each, with the SPD up one point and the Greens steady. The Left Party gains one point to 11 percent, while the FDP falls from 5 to 4 percent. Other parties total 7 percent. The institute surveyed 1,048 people from Oct. 2 to Oct. 16.
Compared with the start of the year, the conservatives have lost four points and the AfD has gained two, according to Allensbach. The Greens stood at 11.5 percent in early 2026. Other pollsters also put the AfD ahead: in Infratest dimap's ARD-Deutschlandtrend, conducted in late September, it had 27 percent and the conservatives 20 percent. That survey found only 10 percent each satisfied with the government's and the chancellor's performance – record lows.
