A road-rage dispute escalated in Berlin's Kreuzberg district on Wednesday evening. According to police, a 25-year-old man was waiting at a red light at the junction of Urbanstrasse and Schoenleinstrasse at about 8 p.m. when he got into an argument with the occupants of another car. Two 20-year-old men allegedly got out and punched him, and one is also suspected of using an irritant spray.

Plainclothes officers who happened to be nearby in an unmarked car intervened and detained the two suspects, seizing what is believed to be an irritant spray. The 25-year-old suffered bruising to the face and irritation of the eyes and airways and was treated as an outpatient in hospital.

Both suspects were released after police procedures. A specialist unit of Police Directorate 5 (City) is investigating.
