Joaquin Buckley declined to shake Dana White's hand at the ceremonial weigh-ins before UFC Edmonton. At the press conference after Buckley's knockout loss to Mike Malott, the UFC boss was asked about it. "As soon as he lost, I told Hunter to cut him," White said, according to Operation Sports, referring to Hunter Campbell – before immediately adding that he was joking: "I have no problems with Joaquin Buckley."
White said fighters handle fight week differently and that he does not take such moments personally, pointing to weight cutting and time away from family. According to the report, there is no sign of any consequences for Buckley.
In sporting terms, the 32-year-old faces a fresh start: according to MMA Junkie, the Malott defeat was his third in a row after decision losses to Sean Brady and Kamaru Usman – and his first stoppage loss at welterweight. MMA Junkie's Mike Bohn suggests the loser of Uroš Medić vs. Kevin Holland at UFC 334 on 14 November as his next opponent.
