Bulgaria's Council of Ministers has tasked the state-owned Bulgarian Posts with paying pensions through post offices nationwide until June 30, 2031. The payment rules remain unchanged. Pensioners can collect their pensions and supplements at any post office, not only the one that normally serves them. A mechanism will compensate the company for the financial burden of the public service, and the maximum annual state aid for it is raised to 20 million euros.
Pensions are also delivered at home to people with a permanent or current address who receive a pension for permanently reduced work capacity or are 68 or older. The post office also pays pensions to prisoners and residents of social care institutions, as well as extraordinary payments to those eligible. The decision was taken at the same meeting at which Prime Minister Rumen Radev presented the 2027 budget, which foresees an 8% pension increase.
