Bulgaria's Council of Ministers approved an additional transfer of more than 4.8 million euros to the budget of the city of Burgas. The money is earmarked for preparing and staging the 71st Eurovision Song Contest, which the Black Sea city will host in May 2027. The government press office said the funds will be used on an approved schedule: first to organize a test event in good time, then for the technical preparation of the Arena Burgas hall. The precise amount above 4.8 million euros and the date of the test event were not disclosed.

Burgas was chosen as host city by Bulgarian National Television and the European Broadcasting Union. The state is responsible for institutional coordination, financial support, and security and public order during the contest. At the same meeting, the Cabinet also approved 11.4 million euros in additional spending from its own budget, including for restoring frescoes in the St. Dimitar Solunski Cathedral in Vidin and buying a church for the Bulgarian Orthodox community in Leipzig, Germany.
