The Berlin police's online station had been unreachable since Tuesday. According to police, a software update took parts of the force's central IT system out of operation. While the outage lasts, people cannot file criminal complaints, submit tips or register demonstrations through the portal. The Berliner Zeitung newspaper first reported the outage.
A police spokesman said it was not a complete failure and that only parts of the technology were affected, without giving details. Police expected the system to be working again later on Wednesday; it was not immediately clear whether that happened. “In an emergency, please dial 110,” the police wrote on X. People with speech or hearing impairments can send a fax to 110 or use the Nora emergency app.
