Fabio Wardley did not hesitate for a moment after his defeat to Daniel Dubois, having decided by the early hours after their fight in Manchester on 9 May to trigger his rematch clause. "I decided that immediately," he told The Ring. "I don't want three easy fights to 'rebuild my confidence.'" Wardley dropped Dubois twice inside the first three rounds but was stopped in the 11th.

"I was a victim of my own success. I will be more composed when I knock him down again," said Wardley (20-1-1, 19 KOs), adding: "I used to start slow, but I don't anymore." Dubois' trainer Don Charles admitted on Queensberry's "Inside Look": "There's a lot of fundamental errors we made," calling Wardley "a very dangerous guy".

The rematch for Dubois' WBO title takes place on Saturday 17 October at The O2 Arena in London, live on DAZN pay-per-view.
