German Economy Minister Katherina Reiche (CDU) cannot return to Berlin on Monday as planned after attacks on the airport in Riyadh, which has been closed. Reiche was already in the Saudi capital for energy conferences before the attacks.

Her ministry said logistics were being coordinated with other ministries and authorities and that alternative travel options were being examined. "The minister and her staff will return safely," a spokeswoman told Reuters, adding that her appointments were initially going ahead as planned.

Saturday's attack, claimed by Yemen's Houthi militia, killed at least 12 people and injured more than 300. On Sunday a projectile hit Terminal 4, according to the Saudi-led coalition; the aviation authority said one person was killed and 11 injured.
