The Betty Barclay Group is reviving the womenswear label Public after more than a decade. According to TextilWirtschaft, the brand went insolvent in 2013 and the search for an investor failed. In 2015 the Hong Kong-based Royal Spirit Group gave up the business and Public disappeared from the market. A year later, the Betty Barclay Group acquired the brand rights.
Public is now set to relaunch in a higher price segment, FashionUnited reports. The first collection is planned for Autumn/Winter 2027, with the order round starting in January 2027. According to the company's announcement, the label relies on "fine yarns, high-quality woven fabrics, bold details and modern fits" and aims to combine understatement with fashion statements. The group promises retailers attractive purchasing terms and high margins, and the launch will build on its existing structures.
