Households in Germany that heat with gas will on average pay slightly more for using the gas grid in 2027. According to an analysis by service provider ene't (as of 8 October 2026), network fees for a model household consuming 20,000 kilowatt hours a year will rise by 7.25 euros, or 1.2 percent, to 603.47 euros a year before VAT, up from 596.22 euros in 2026. For a smaller household using 7,000 kilowatt hours, ene't puts the figure at 261.46 euros instead of 258.48 euros. VAT comes on top.

Regional differences are large: according to the analysis, the cheapest network is that of Stadtwerke Greven at 301.51 euros and the most expensive that of E.DIS at 977.68 euros – a gap of 676.17 euros a year. Thüga Energienetze shows the biggest increase, up 50.74 euros (12.1 percent) to 471.94 euros, while eneREGIO shows the steepest fall, down 42.40 euros (8.0 percent) to 489.60 euros, t-online reported. Households on the most expensive network thus pay more than three times as much as those on the cheapest.

The figures are preliminary: they are based on price sheets from 46 gas network operators covering around 42.9 percent of the gas-supplied area and, according to ene't, may still change before the turn of the year. Network fees are only one component of the gas price. Whether and to what extent suppliers pass on the changes will only become clear with their 2027 tariffs. Customers should read price change letters carefully and compare offers.
