British indie band Blossoms top the Official UK Albums Chart, published on October 9, with their sixth studio album, 'Songs from the Wedding Cake'. According to Music Week, the record sold 26,713 units in its first week, most of them on CD (14,939) and vinyl (8,387). It is their fifth Number 1 album and their fourth in a row.

Close behind at Number 2 is the reissue of the Beatles' 'Rubber Soul'; Music Week says the Beatles led the early sales flashes. 'Rubber Soul' is Number 1 on the vinyl albums chart. Johnny Marr enters at Number 5 with 'The Age of Everything', while Taylor Swift's 'The Life of a Showgirl' slips from 1 to 8.

According to Official Charts, the band said they were 'made up': reaching Number 1 ten years after their first album 'isn't something we take for granted'. They thanked everyone who bought it, played it or told a mate about it.
