The political thriller-comedy is set shortly before Chile's 1973 military coup: Two CIA agents are sent from Santiago to Easter Island. As they wrestle with their dark pasts and present-day conspiracies, one agent's bond with two rebellious students threatens to derail the trip. Malkovich and Sam Rockwell star alongside Steve Buscemi, Parker Posey, Tom Waits, Mariana Di Girolamo and Ailín Salas.
"Wild Horse Nine" will also open the Stockholm International Film Festival on Nov. 11; the festival runs through Nov. 22. According to the Stockholm festival, the film received a 14-minute standing ovation in Venice. The Golden Lion went to May el-Toukhy's drama "Woman Unknown."
